The customer is a department of a leading IT company, specializing on development of web applications, which support e-learning activities in the company’s global intranet. The company is headquartered in the U.S.A. and has a network of offices in many countries.
IBA CZ is involved with several offices in EU and U.S.A., however the developed products are consumed worldwide by thousands of users.
Overview
IBA CZ is cooperating on a long-term basis with the customer’s development team on delivering solutions for e-learning and learning content management for a client’s intranet. The cooperation lasts for approximately four years, during which IBA CZ employees have participated in multiple projects.
Typical Projects
IBA CZ employees are involved in all project stages under the customer project management. They participate in the analysis, design, development, testing, and roll-out of the applications. In some projects, they also provide the full maintenance and support of the deployed applications. A typical project involves 12-48 person-months of an IBA CZ software professional. The total yearly load is over 6,000 man-days.
A frequent objective of such projects is to develop a web-based application using Java EE technologies for IBM WebSphere Application Server or IBM WebSphere Portal Server.
Applications co-developed by IBA CZ typically serve as an entry point for intranet users who use them to access various types of information on a particular topic. The applications syndicate data from many sources and often reside in complex infrastructure.
The user interface is developed either in form of JSR-168 compliant portlets or as a legacy web application often supported by a MVC framework on the server side of n-tier applications. The portlet-based components of the UI are deployed on the customer’s intranet portal.
