Migration Services
Today’s state-of-the-art business solutions are tomorrow’s legacy systems. As IBA employs both people with 20-30 years of IT experience and young specialists, we can easily set up teams even for the most challenging projects.
Classification of Migration Projects
Code Migration to Other Platforms and DBs
zOS/OS2/Win/Unix/Linux → zOS/Win/Unix/Linux
any DB → SQL DB
- Application architecture is the same
- Code is changed partially
- New GUI (Legacy extension)
Functional Migration (Legacy Transformation)
C/S appl. (any platform) → WEB-based application
IBM MVS, IMS, PL1 → IBM AIX, SAP R3, DB/2, ABAP/4

Functional Migration Approach
We usually maintain compatibility of database structure to minimize cost of data migration and to achieve smooth transition by parallel functioning of old and new applications. We also preserve high GUI compatibility to reduce staff re-training expenses. The development is in line with Rational Unified Process.
The course of typical migration projects is the following:
Reverse engineering: black box analysis
Functional analysis of the legacy application
Defining requirements for the legacy application
Defining additional functional requirements
Sizing (FP and LoC metrics)
High-level design and proof-of-concept implementation
Development and testing
Pilot deployment in the customer environment
Production deployment
Maintenance and support

Current Project Record
We have hundreds of completed projects (40000+ person/months) for western clients since 1993. Here are some examples:
